Catalytic converter with lambda control

The On Board Diagnostics (OBD), mandatory by law since April 2003, determines the function of the catalytic converter using, among other things, an upstream and downstream lambda sensor; the data for error display is transmitted over a CAN bus in the instrument panel. The following images show two catalytic converter examples from the Bosal company, each with an installed lambda sensor.
