Diesel fuel heating

Another example of an application to be mentioned is the LIN-control of diesel fuel heating from Mahle.
Electric diesel fuel heating today is normally integrated directly in the head of the filter element. In most cases the control element which turns on the heating element when necessary is also integrated into the filter head. This can be the simple design of a bimetal thermostat. Also electronic control elements are increasingly moving into this application. Here the temperature of the inflowing fuel is measured with a sensor and the heating element is switched on below a predefined temperature (typically 5-8°C).
