Driver assistance systems

A further development in the area of off-board networking is the driver assistance systems. They support the driver by continually observing the traffic conditions around the vehicle. If the system detects a potential source of danger, it warns the driver in adequate time to react correctly. This is an important contribution to safety in highway traffic.

Especially commercial vehicles are often potential sources of danger because of their size, driving characteristics and conditions of circumferential visibility. The drivers of such vehicles especially profit from such systems.
